David Crane Visit
We are truly excited by the visit of David W Crane, Christine Avots, Suzy McCarthy, Jason Kiwak, and Chadwick Manning who all came together for a quick visit to upgrade the solar grid at IMUA in Cite Soleil and to lay the groundwork to launch the Ice Factory social business. David first financed with his friends (ChristinaWeiss Lurie and the Bechtel Foundation) and his family in 2013, the School’s cafeteria, and the Kindergarten. The school also received a 17 kW
solar system which Jason Kiwak and his team installed.
At this most recent visit, Christine Avots, Jason Kiwak and Chadwick Manning replaced the school’s outdated batteries with a more efficient and productive
smart battery solution that is a fully integrated energy storage, management and monitoring system. Suzy McCarthy along with Friends of Haiti have been the first to contribute towards IMUA’s school feeding program since 2013 and continues to ensure that the kids are well fed so they can be healthy and happy at school. David also contributed towards the expansion of Sigora Haiti’s grid back in 2015. He was one of the first investors who helped Sigora Haiti provide access to renewable energy in Haiti. During his visit to Mole St Nicolas, he was very inspired by the grid which at the time of his involvement, had just begun, but is now powering over 25,000 people in the northwestern department. He also visited the local hospital that HADPRE is supporting along with our other initiatives.
