In 2015, Sigora Haiti donated a 2.7 kW solar system with batteries to electrify a small village of 250 residents near Mole St Nicolas, on the tip of Presqu’ile. The system spans a 1 km distribution line which connects every home to the solar array. Sigora Haiti also provided a light bulb and outlet in each home. This provides fishermen the opportunity, for the first time, to access the internet, charge their phones, watch television and have a connection with the outside world.
HADPRE is now responsible for the reparation and maintenance of the system.
